Wascana Racing Canoe Club Welcomes You
Welcome to the Wascana Racing Canoe Club website. We are a sprint racing canoe/kayak club located on Wascana Lake in Regina. As a club we are successful at a number of different levels including producing national and international level athletes and providing youth and adults with fun paddling opportunities.
You can find current news here on our home page, including upcoming events, activites and highlights of the success of our athletes and volunteers.
If you are looking for program information please click on the program tab and you will find a listing of all our programs, as well as downloadable brochures and registration forms.
The information tab will provide you with some background information about our club, including our history, our club accomplishments and our coaching staff.
We hope to have the calendar and photo gallery in operation soon.

Nationals & CanMas a Success!
Congratulations to the volunteers and athletes at Wascana Racing Canoe Club for hosting another successful national championships.
As for our athletes – great job!
Wascana tied for 6th place overall for the 2010 Canadian Sprint CanoeKayak Championship burgee with Rideau. Here’s a summary of the 18 medals won by Wascana athletes.

2010 National Championships Begin!
We’ve been waiting for Canada to race on our lake and it’s all set to begin. Over 1100 athletes from across Canada are here and the action will start on Wednesday morning at 8:00 am.
The 2010 Canadian Sprint CanoeKayak Championships are a free event to the public. Parking is available at the Conexus Art Centre. Bring your binoculars and you lawn chair and enjoy the day. Programs are available at the Information Booth.

Selinger Wins 2 Medals
Congratulations to Wascana athlete Christine Selinger who won two medals at the ICF World Sprint Championships in Poland in the para canoe events. Christine won gold in the open women K-1 event and silver in the K-1 TA event.
Congratulations Christine. Your Wascana family is so proud of you and your accomplishments!
Great Weekend at Divisionals
Congratulations to Wascana athletes for winning the Overall Championships title at the 2010 Prairie Divisional Regatta held July 31 and August 1 in Regina.
With the Canadian Championships being held in Regina this year, Wascana athletes were especially motivated to qualify for races. Most athletes have full race cards and will be training extra hard over the next few weeks to prepare.
Thanks so much to all the volunteers who worked to put this event on, including those who helped from other clubs across the Division. Thanks also to the coaches for their continued commitment to our athletes.

2010 Canada Day Results for Regina Leader Post
WRCC Athletes Named to Teams
Congratulations to Kia Byers, Simon Fense, Christine Selinger and Chris Pearson who have all been named to national teams who will be representing Canada at major international competitions this year.
Kia was selected to the team that will race at the Senior World Championships in Poland from August 18th to 21st. Kia has shown her strength to be in the 200m distance at both the 2009 World Championships and throughout competition so far in 2010. Kia was also named to the senior team that will race at the Pan Am Canoe Championships in Mexico City in October.
Chris Pearson and Christine Selinger were also selected to the national team and will be racing in the paracanoe events at the World Championships.

Simon Fense was named to junior national team that will represent Canada at the Pan Am Canoe Championships in Mexico City in October.

Pan Am Canoe Championships Team Named
A Great Cause
John Duncan and Ken Gamble are participating in the Duncan Shield Canoe Race on July 30th in Loon Lake Ontario. Their goal is to raise funds for improving the Camp Duncan infrastructure.
Ken and John participated in Wascana’s masters winter training program for the past couple of years and in particular benefitted from the pool paddling sessions.

Western Championships - Calgary
Yeehaw! The Stampede is still going strong in Calgary, but so are Wascana athletes as they are in the midst of racing at the Western Championships in Calgary on July 17 & 18.
Ashley Goertzen and Zara Hanson are coaching a team of 22 athletes who are competing this weekend. The forecast looks great so we hope everyone has a good weekend of races.
Thanks in advance to the coaches, Team Manager Peter McKinnon, Boat Drivers Chris & Teresa Laplante and all the other parents who are there to support the team.

Wascana at Team Trials
Wascana athletes, coached by Dave Robertson, are set for the 2nd set of National Team Trials in Montreal on July 17 & 18.
Kia Byers, Tiera McLeod, Megan Gibson, Simon Fense, Christopher Laplante, Ashley Holowatuk, Cooper Reis, Chelsey Mitchell, Alyssa Kohl and Gina Soparlo are hoping for great races and great times.
