Attractions within Wascana Centre

Wascana Centre, the site of the 2006 Canadian Sprint CanoeKayak Championships is a 930 hectare urban park located in the heart of Regina. This beautifully landscaped park surrounds a 120 hectare lake and is home to many attractions and a wealth of flora and fauna.

Maps, event and walking tour information can be obtained from Wascana Place, which is open weekdays from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The following maps can also be downloaded and printed:

Willow Island
Willow Island is located near the north east shore of Wascana Lake. It is available for public access Monday to Friday from noon to 4:00 pm from the Willow Island Boat Launch at a cost of $4.00 per person for the ferry ride. It can also be booked for private use from noon to 9:00 pm at a nominal fee. The island has charcoal barbecue pits, picnic tables, benches, washrooms, water fountains and fire pits suitable for a bonfire and/or weiner roast.

Saskatchewan Legislative Building.
Tours of the Legislative Building are available seven days a week in English and French and are conducted on the hour and on the half hour between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, seven days a week.

Wascana Park Bandstand, located on the north shore of Wascana Lake across from the Legislative Building. Bandstand concerts feature talented Saskatchewan artists who perform and entertain with music, song, and dance.

Joe Moran Gallery, located on the 4th floor of Wascana Place, the Joe Moran Gallery is a unique gallery that offers Saskatchewan artists an opportunity to showcase their talent.

MacKenzie Art Gallery
The MacKenzie Art Gallery is home to an excellent collection of art from historical to contemporary works by Canadian, American and international artists as well as major touring exhibits. Visit the Gallery Shop for unique gifts, many handcrafted by Saskatchewan Artists. Tours of the gallery are available.

Saskatchewan Science Centre
The Saskatchewan Science Centre is an exciting place to visit for both young and old. There are over a hundred permanent, hands-on exhibits, live stage shows, amazing Gryo-Gym, and one of the tallest climbing walls in Canada, plus the Kramer IMAX Theatre showing breathtaking IMAX films on a five-storey screen and wrap-around sound.

Royal Saskatchewan Museum
This outstanding museum provides visitors a journey through the history of Saskatchewan. The Earth Sciences Gallery depicts 3.5 billion years of geological/fossil history. The First Nations Gallery traces 10,000 years of aboriginal culture and the Life Sciences Gallery showcases Saskatchewan’s eco-regions.

Waterfowl Park and Migratory Bird Sanctuary
The Wascana Waterfowl Park is a 223 hectare thriving marshland within Regina’s city limits. Its existence dates back to 1913 when a planner had the foresight to establish the Wascana Game Preserve. Part of the preserve later become the Wascana Bird Sanctuary and the Regina Waterfowl Park.

Devonian Bikeway/Pathway
This extensive network of pathways throughout Regina meanders through Wascana Centre, allowing visitors to enjoy all that the park has to offer.

Wascana Outdoor Swimming Pool
A visit to Wascana Pool is great way to spend the day. The pool is situated on the north shore of the park, close to the bandshell. It is open from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.
