Jun 3, 10:30 AM: WRCC Athletes Fair Well at Team Trials

WRCC athletes will be returning home from the National Team Trials in Wellend with plenty of experience as well as some good race results. WRCC athletes Simon Fense, Lliam Folk, Megan Gibson, Zara Hanson, Alyssa Kohl, Iain McLeod, Tiera McLeod and Cooper Reis all raced at the trials in Welland, Ontario on June 7th and 8th.

Tiera McLeod and Lliam Folk had good results in the senior events. Tiera placed 5th and 6th in the senior women’s K-1 500m events raced on Saturday and Sunday. As well, Tiera raced K-2 with partner Emily Raymond from Rideau and placed 4th on Saturday and 5th on Sunday. Lliam placed 5th in the C-1 1000m B final and 4th in the C-1 500m B final.

Megan Gibson, Zara Hanson and Iain McLeod placed in final events in the junior events. Megan placed 2nd in the K-1 1000m B final and 4th in the K-1 500m B final. She also placed 9th in the K-2 1000m final with partner Marielle Hawkes of Edmonton. Zara placed 4th in the C final of the K-1 500m event. Iain McLeod placed 7th in the B final of the C-1 1000m event.
